Returning to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Weyburn is the In-School Mentoring Program. Amy Noureldin, Director of Development and Communications for Regina, Weyburn, and Moose Jaw, shared the details of the partnership with the Weyburn Comprehensive High School and Legacy Park School.

“We’re really excited, this year we are partnering with the Comp and Legacy Park School and we’re looking for students who are going into grades 11 and 12 to volunteer as mentors,” shared Noureldin.

“They would head to Legacy for one hour, once a week, usually during a lunch hour, so they don’t have to miss any school, and mentor a child and hang out and have fun, nothing to do with academics or homework, it’s just about building a relationship with a child and being another support system and having a lot of fun,” continued Noureldin.

While BBBS is looking for high school students to act as In-School Mentors, the organization is also looking for adult mentors who can spend a couple of hours a week with a child. Those wishing to volunteer can contact the organization by calling or texting (306)842-4050 or reach them through their website at www.bbbsweyburn.ca or on their Facebook page here

The annual general meeting will be held in Regina on September 27 at Path Cowork.

"Everyone is welcome, we are trying to be a bit different this year hoping to spice things up, we're going to have a short program, celebrate all the good things that happened between our matches and one of our "Littles" will be a cohost," explained Noureldin.

BBBS of Weyburn would like to thank the Young Fellows of Weyburn for sponsoring the In-School Mentoring Program and is also encouraging supporting Communithon as BBBS receives support from the organization.
