Day Two of Blow Away Hunger powered by Great Plains Ford kicks off at 9:00 this morning and we need YOUR help.

We are collecting food and cash donations for the Weyburn Salvation Army to help them out this holiday season.

"For the food bank this year we're really looking for some soup, canned pork, and beans, canned vegetables, canned meat, coffee, coffee mate," said Director of Community Ministries Ronza Reynard. "We're always looking for cereal, we're going to stick that in every hamper."

Salvation Army is also hoping to see donations of pancake mix and syrup, sidekicks, hamburger helper, and school lunch snacks.

For the second year, Great Plains Ford has teamed up with us and is hosting Blow Away Hunger in their showroom.

"I think it's important to raise awareness in the community and around the community about our partners at the Salvation Army and supporting them and just trying to make sure that every family in our community can enjoy the holidays and holiday spirit," said Operations Manager Josh.

Rebecca Ness, another member of the Great Plains Ford Team, added "Being members of the community we were in a position to help support and bring awareness to this great program and we just wanted to help in any way we could."

They both added that they want to do even better than we did last year, setting a goal of $15,000 and two half-tons full of food.

We can't do it without your support though!

Come down to Great Plains Ford between 9:00 and 5:00 today to make your donation of a non-perishable food item or cash to help support the Salvation Army during their busiest season.

Everyone who donates will be entered to win a brand new snowblower from Canadian Tire.

Special thanks to John Kmita Ltd, Prairie Donair, Annugas, Detour Bar and Grill, and McFrugals for their sponsorship of this incredible event.

Can't make it down today? Send us a message on the AM1190 Facebook page to make special arrangements.

And thank you for helping to blow away hunger!
