Two women who are calling themselves Gals of God’s Grace are creating community connection by providing a FREE community BBQ this Friday at the dog park.

Anna Cherpin was inspired to host the event after she saw a similar event on her social media.  She shared that she thought it would be fun to bring it to Weyburn and her friend Amanda Ribalkin immediately jumped on board to help out.

The women held their first FREE BBQ a couple of weeks ago in the mall parking lot and without advertising the BBQ was a huge success.

“We had about 70 to 75 people show up. And it wasn't pre-announced. We just went out and we just did it and held up signs,” said Cherpin.

“We met new people like people were hugging us and thanking us. And it's like, wow, this is just amazing,” shared Ribalkin. “People kept asking us, what do you want from us, we said nothing, and they were like are you guys crazy?! And we’re like no, we’re just good Christian women who want to give back to our community.”

The women’s good deeds have proved to be contagious because, for the second BBQ, they were able to get a sponsor.

“Near the end of the BBQ, this gentleman pulled up and he liked what we were doing, and he said I've been wanting to do something like this for a while and would you consider another BBQ at the dog park? And we're like sure, let's go for it and so I did all my paperwork and I got approved,” added Cherpin.

Ryan Sidloski is the gentleman who is sponsoring the next BBQ being held this Friday at the dog park which will run from 11 am to 3 pm.

Anyone interested in helping or sponsoring the Gals of God’s Grace can call Anna Cherpin at (306)861-9886. Cherpin also shared she will be hosting a forgiveness course by Bruce Wilkinson called 70x7, all are welcome to sign up for the course at the BBQ.
