Last week's official first-ever annual City-wide cleanup campaign "Wey Clean Week" wrapped up over the weekend.

Weyburn is indeed more clear of garbage now, and Environment Committee Chair, City Councillor Dick Michel is impressed.

"I'm totally impressed," he said. "You people of Weyburn were able to show me what it's all about, and you made the City visibly better, when you drive or walk, you can see what you've done. Now when somebody drops a piece of paper you say, 'oh my goodness, that wasn't there before', so you pick it up."

Michel said he hopes it leads to a more regular habit for some.

"We don't want to wait for a 'week' to do it. We do it every day that we're out there, winter summer, spring, fall, it doesn't matter," he added. "It's good for our community."

He thanked everyone who pitched in to help out with cleaning up our beautiful City.

"I want to thank every family, group, organization, club, and individuals who were out there helping different areas of this community," Michel expressed.

"It showed what people can do if we work together, and I'm not surprised at Weyburn, just not totally surprised at all. We set the platform fairly high and I'm glad we did, and people who haven't responded in a positive way like I knew they would," he concluded. "So I'm just totally impressed."
