The SJHL game between the Estevan Bruins and Weyburn Red Wings that was scheduled for Friday night in Weyburn has been postponed.

The league cited an "influenza outbreak" as the reason for the postponement. The game has been pushed back to March 11.

The Red Wings have been dealing with the illness all week, with very few players at practice. The La Ronge Ice Wolves have also been dealing with sickness on their team.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we have canceled games involving both La Ronge and Weyburn this weekend to prevent the spread of the influenza virus throughout the league," stated SJHL Commissioner Kyle McIntyre.

"In the SJHL bylaws, there is a provision for teams to continue to play when there are 14 players available (including goalies and affiliates) and I am confident if either team had this number of players healthy the games would have gone on," he said.

The postponement means Estevan won't play again until next Wednesday at home to La Ronge and the Red Wings will be back in action Tuesday when Yorkton heads to Crescent Point Place.
