No injuries were reported after a residential fire broke out on Friday evening.

The Weyburn Fire Department was dispatched to reports of a structure fire on the 200 block of Douglas Road on Friday at 6:40 p.m.

The first officers to arrive reported that heavy smoke and flames could be seen from the roof of the residence. The fire was threatening nearby structures, including two garages and a neighbouring house.

The fire originated inside the structure and breached the interior of the house and into the attic. Initial reports indicate the fire was noticed by soccer players in a nearby park. The Weyburn Fire Department is thankful to the players for their quick response and safe evacuation of the residents within the home.

A fire engine, aerial ladder truck, rescue truck, water tanker, utility truck, and command vehicle were used. The Weyburn Police Service was also on scene to assist with traffic control.

Crews remained on the scene until around 10:00 p.m.

The incident is still under investigation.
