CP provided the following update at 7:40 Thursday evening regarding the train derailment near Macoun from the morning.

“A CP freight train derailed near Macoun, Sask., just before 10 a.m. Thursday. There were no injuries. 

“CP immediately mobilized emergency crews to respond to the incident and CP’s hazardous materials experts now are on site coordinating with local emergency responders. 

“The fire at the scene remains active. 

“The TSB of Canada has deployed investigators to the scene and the cause of the incident remains under investigation.

“Two cars carrying liquefied petroleum gas were involved in the derailment.”

A SaskAlert notification was sent out Thursday afternoon as some residents in the area were asked to evacuate.
