There were a number of matters on the May 23rd docket at the Weyburn courthouse.

One of those matters included Weyburn man Brandon Collins, who is facing a number of child pornography charges.

Collins appeared by phone from the Regina Correctional Centre, and Legal Aid acted as agent for his counsel, Adam Fritzler. Legal Aid requested the matter be adjourned over to May 25th on behalf of Fritzler, and stated they were unsure if the matter would proceed as a show cause hearing.

A show cause hearing is where the Judge decides if the accused will remain in custody or be let out of custody before their trial.

The Judge remanded the matter over to May 25th at 9:30 a.m. at the Weyburn courthouse, where Collins will appear by phone or video, unless his lawyer requests that he appear in person.

Collins has been charged with child pornography, making child pornography available, and bestiality. As well, another child pornography charge related to an investigation by the Weyburn Police Service that started in September of 2022, was also laid.

Another Weyburn man had his fifth court appearance at the Weyburn courthouse on May 23rd.

A publication ban was ordered by the court previously, which prevents anyone from publishing, broadcasting or sending any information that could identify the victim, witnesses, or other criminal justice system participants.

The man is facing charges of sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, and sexual assault against a female youth stemming from January of 2023.

Legal Aid acted as agent for his counsel, Brendan Pyle. Legal Aid requested the matter be adjourned over to May 30th at 9:30 a.m. at the Weyburn courthouse. The Crown stated that their disclosure is complete and they are ready to set a trial date.
