There's so much to look forward to with the 41st annual Weyburn Communithon coming up tomorrow, October 28th, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Weyburn Legion.

Today is the last day to 'leaf your mark' and support the cause through local businesses.

"So if you haven't got your leaf or your card, you should stop by Prairie Sky Co-op, Pharmasave, Route 39, Home Hardware, or the Rolling Pin. Put a donation in and you can have your name put up on one of their displays," explained Korryn Kubashek, Communithon Committee Chair.

She shared that the committee had their last meeting on Tuesday and they're ready for the big event.

"We're good to go. We have everything planned. I'm sure there will be some last-minute tweaks we have to do, but we're able to roll with that and be able to change on the drop of a dime, so we're looking forward to it."

This year, once again, the Legion should be packed with performers, volunteers, and audience members. In fact, we'll even see the return of everybody's favourite, the schoolchildren.

"We have a full line of the school performers coming back and they are so excited to be back inside," noted Kubashek. "This has been going on for 41 years and it just wasn't the same without having our live performances."

She said they'll also have a band coming in to close out the show from 10:00 to 11:00 p.m.

"They're called Radioactive Love, and they're a young group out of Bengough," she shared.

Contrary to the rumours, there is a charge to get into the live, all-day event.

"There is no charge to come in. We do welcome donations, but there is no fee to come in and watch the entertainment at all. The more that come down and watch, the better for the performers, and it's just an all around good experience to come down. So, no charge, come enjoy the show," Kubashek invited.

Another favourite part of the event that's returning this year is the Knights of Columbus is holding their annual perogy and sausage supper at McKenna Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

While dine-in includes a kids' meal rate of $6 for 8 and under, and adults for $15, all take-home meals are $15.

"A meal includes perogies, cabbage rolls, smokies, onions, sauerkraut, sour cream, coffee juice and ice cream, and all proceeds go to the Weyburn Communithon, and this is in conjunction with the Knights of Columbus and Prairie Sky Co-op."

She added the meal usually sells out every year.
