The Weyburn Youth Centre (WYC) will be hosting its annual fundraising banquet on October 1 at Knox Hall. This year the event brings additional excitement, as the non-profit organization will be celebrating 30 years of community service.

A full program is planned for the evening, doors will open at 5:00 p.m., and turkey supper will be served at 6 pm, a live and silent auction will take place, and a presentation will be held looking back at the history of the WYC, which is also known as Tags.

The fundraising banquet is the largest fundraiser for the centre. All funds raised go to continuing to provide a safe place for youth to gather that is free of bullying, alcohol, and drugs.

“We would sure like our community to continue to support us like they have in the past, we’ve had great community support, during the month of September we will be looking for items for our auction,” said Cameron Weber, Board Chair of the Weyburn Youth Centre.

“Anything over $200 we put up for live auction, it makes it a little more exciting, some of the business owners bid against each other, it’s a fun time,” said Weber.

In addition to the banquet, the WYC is looking to hire a new Drop-In and Skate Park Director. This position works to build positive relationships with local youth and oversees the programming, gaming, and confectionary part of the ministry.
