This weekend will see a number of Weyburn and area athletes of all ages engaged in events here in town, and across the province. 

Starting out Friday, there will be a basketball tournament at Weyburn Comprehensive School. The Jr. A Girls and the Junior Boys travelling team will be hosting a tournament in the Eagles Gym. The tournament runs Friday and Saturday.  

On the ice, the U11 Weyburn DQ Blizzards play the U11 Weyburn Gold Wings at Crescent Point Place at 4:30. Then, the U13 Weyburn SCE Wings travel to Avonlea to take on the Thunder, while the U15 AA Annugas Wings are in Emerald Park to play the Prairie Storm.  

In the Big Six Hockey League, The Carnduff Red Devils host the Bienfait Coalers, the Kipling Windthorst Oil Kings are in Moosomin to face the Rangers, the Redvers Rockets travel to Carlyle for a matchup with the Cougars and the Oxbow Huskies entertain the Wawota Flyers.  

Saturday, volleyball action kicks off with the 1st Sask Cup tournament of the season for the women’s U14, U16 and U17 teams from the Weyburn Volleyball Club.  

Athletes from the Weyburn Wrestling Club will also be on the road this weekend, heading to Swift Current for the Titans Tournament.  

Things will be busy on the ice at Tom Zandee Sports Arena and Crescent Point Place, as the two rinks host a U9 hockey tournament. The tournament will be ongoing throughout the day and continue into Sunday. 

The U13 Canadian Tire Gold Wings will also be on the road, travelling to Moose Jaw for a tournament this weekend. 

Other hockey action includes the U11 DQ Blizzards hosting the Milestone Flyers at Tom Zandee Sports Arena in the afternoon, while the U11 Milestone Flyers travel to Torquay to play the Lions.  

Back in Weyburn, the U13 AA Young Fellow Gold Wings take on the Swift Current Wildcats, followed by the U18 AA John Hulbert Construction Wings against the Notre Dame Argos. Those games start at 12:45 and are both at Crescent Point Place.  

The U15 AA Southeast Whitecap Gold Wings are on the road Saturday and Sunday, playing a pair of games in Prince Albert against the Foxes. 

In the Big Six Saturday night, Carlyle is in Carnduff, Arcola hosts Kipling Windthorst, the Oxbow Huskies entertain Moosomin and Wawota is in Yellow Grass. 

The busy weekend wraps up Sunday with even more hockey action, as the U9 tournament continues. Other games include the U11 AtoMc Red hosting Radville at Crescent Point Place, and the U11 AA Panther Drilling Wings taking on the Yorkton Terriers right after that game. 

The U13 AA Young Fellow Gold Wings play another game against the Swift Current Wildcats, while the U15 Creekside Carwash Wings travel to Estevan to play the Bearcats.  

The U11 Radville Nats are in Avonlea and the U18 AA John Hulbert Construction Wings host Estevan at Crescent Point Place in the evening.  

The U11 Gold Wings play the DQ Blizzards at Crescent Point Place to wrap up the week in Weyburn. 

As for the Big Six, there will be two games Sunday night, with Arcola travelling to Redvers, and Yellow Grass hosting Midale.
