Mike Manko-Bauche was born and raised in Weyburn, Saskatchewan and found many ways to keep busy in the South East during his youth.

He loved taking bike rides down south hill on windy days, hunting crayfish under bridges and playing outdated video game in his parent's basement.

After Bauche received a degree in Mathematics with a minor in Visual Arts at the University of Regina, he spent half a year backpacking and travelling around Australia.

When he returned to Saskatchewan, he pursued a degree in education and after receiving it he began teaching in Regina.

During this point in his life he met a woman, got married and learned many life lessons along the way.

Now, after becoming a father and returning to Weyburn with his wife and growing family, Bauche looks back on his life and is quite happy with how things have gone.

Along the way he found many ways to create art and now focuses heavily on making new pieces that challenge his own skills.

He uses pencil crayon in most of his recent creations, but enjoys using permanent markers as well.

Some of his inspiration comes from the cartoons that he used to watch as a child as well as many fantasy pieces he stumbled upon in his youth.

His current collection of art is on display for the next few weeks at the Weyburn Credit Union Gallery, located at 205 Coteau Avenue.
