Today Fred Fox (brother of Canadian legend and hero Terry Fox) was in Weyburn speaking at a few of the elementary schools about Terry Fox. (VIDEO BELOW)
His day started off with a presentation at St. Michael School at 9am. From there he went and spoke to the kids at Queen Elizabeth School.
"Whenever I'm speaking in schools I think it's important for me to get the message out that Terry was just an average ordinary kid and that he accomplished many of his goals through hard work and determination, and that they can do the same thing," explained Fox. "As Terry said, 'anything is possible if you try', so that was kind of the key message."
During his presentation at Queen Elizabeth Mr. Fox gave out a Terry Fox t-shirt to one child and presented the school with a 10 year banner to honor them for all their hard work and fundraising for cancer research and treatment.
After speaking at QE School Mr. Fox made time in his busy schedule to have lunch with some of the Weyburn Terry Fox Run organizers.
He shared stories of Terry Fox in his youth and also told us about his life since his brother passed away in 1981 from osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer).
