Scattered showers are providing some much needed moisture for drier areas in the Southern part of the province.

Farmers have been looking for rain to help crops emerge and develop.

Rainfall amounts vary from area to area but are a welcome site especially in areas south of the Trans-Canada Highway that have been experiencing dry conditions.

World Weather Agri-Meteorologist Drew Lerner says wet weather is expected to continue for the next few days:

"By time we get to Friday morning, that is when dry weather will be back across most of the region temporarily, we will expect to see moisture totals to have run anywhere from around 5-20mm in general, with some local amounts of 20-45mm," he said. "Those will extend to the north-east from central parts of the province. They will expect to see some lighter amounts in scattered locations to the west."

He notes another system is expected to bring more rain to parts of Saskatchewan over the weekend.

"A second disturbance is expected to come across Saskatchewan as we get into the end of this week," he said. "This storm system will come racing across the southern prairies from Alberta on Friday and into Saturday. The system will bring additional rain from the Kindersley area down to Consul, and further to the east towards the Estevan and Melville areas."
