Just a reminder the Province is looking for your help in relaying information on the upcoming crop season.

There are currently 100 open RM Crop Reporter positions to be filled.

"The majority of the empty spots in the province tend to be around the southeast part of the province in the Weyburn and Estevan region," Shannon Friesen, Crop Specialist with Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Agriculture said. "Also in the Yorkton, Melville, Melfort and a little bit of everywhere of course. We will certainly take extra volunteers even if we have a reporter in that RM."

She also says the information gathered is important to helping people understand what’s happening out in the field.

"So producers and agrologist will actually base it on their local area, some will talk to other producers in the area," she said. "What they do is fill out that information ranging from how much rainfall you got that week, what are seeding conditions like, how much progress has been made and how much drop is left out in the field."

She says crop reporters would report to the ministry once a week by answering a questionnaire.

If you're interested in helping out or want more information your asked to contact the Rural Service Centre in your area.
