Canada's agriculture minister is optimistic following a meeting last week between prime minister Justin Trudeau and U-S president Donald Trump.

Lawrence MacAulay touched on the issue while at the annual crop connect conference in Winnipeg last week.

"When you look at what took place, it's obvious they are our biggest trading partner, we're great friends, we have over $2 Billion a day going over the border," MacAulay said. "It's obvious that both sides that trade is vitally important for the economy of both Countries and I would hope it's just straight ahead, more business, more economy, more dollars for the Canadian and American economy."

meanwhile, Macaulay says Canada is working with officials from India as that country considers rejecting pulse shipments that have not been treated for pests prior to shipping.
