The Summer Events Crew took a trip out to the fair yesterday.

We decided to check out what was going on at the grandstand as we had arrived just in time to see the chariot races. This was a really interesting event due to the fact that these Chariot Drivers can get these horses going incredibly fast.

They would round the bend coming towards the finish line at full speed, with the drivers calling out to their horses. It was a very intense sight to see.

Following the Chariot Races was the Mounted Shooters Competition. It had riders make their way through a course laid out with balloon targets while on horseback. Not only did the riders have to navigate the course, but as they passed each balloon they had to shoot it down or face a five second penalty on their time.

A contestant in the mounted shooters competition makes a practice run through the course.

Having never been to a Mounted Shooters Competition, I found it really interesting to learn exactly how it all works. In order to ensure safety the guns used in the competition are loaded with blanks, thus forcing the riders to get up close to the balloons so that the powder from the shot could rupture the balloon.

All in all they were both really awesome events to attend with both the Chariot Races and the Mounted Shooters Competition being full of energy and excitement.

The Summer Events Crew will be at the fair each day it's on, so come on down and visit us!
