There's a chance we may be seeing floods all too similar to 2011 this spring.

Many areas in Southern Saskatchewan have seen above average precipitation this fall and winter. According to the Water Security Agency this can lead to higher average run-off in the spring.

"Right now, based on the current conditions across the province, if there's an average snow pack and spring melt, (then) most areas are looking at an above average spring run of in 2017," said Water Security Agency Spokesperson, Patrick Boyle. "It's too early to say where or when we could see any flooding, and really we're kind of looking at a lot of those regions where they did get some more above normal precipitation in the fall."

Weyburn is included in those regions that received above average precipitation.

There are many variables that must be looked at in order to predict what will happen in the spring, such as how much snow we get, and how fast it melts.
