Weyburn City Council will be meeting for their second meeting of May this evening, and there will be a few important matters on the agenda.

Council will receive the latest update on what the water levels are at Nickle Lake. The reservoir is where Weyburn draws its raw water from. In 2016 and 2018 the levels were down due to a lack of runoff, while 2017 and 2019 had an above-average runoff which resulted in overflow conditions.

Council will also receive a report on when will be needed ahead of the municipal elections, which are scheduled this year for November 8th. A number of matters must also be looked at by the council concerning the election, such as the returning officer for the election, where the polls will be set up, advance polls, mail-in ballots, automated voting equipment, budgets, and disclosure of campaign contributions and expenses.

There will also be a discussion on the requirements for the City of Weyburn to qualify for a grant through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program for work being done at the landfill.

We will have full coverage of the meeting, on-air and online, starting Tuesday morning.
