At the end of next week public ice skating will be closing down for the season in Weyburn and there are some changes for you to be aware of.

"So the remainder of the public skating season will be held at Crescent Point Place and the public can register online," stated Paige Tenbult, Communications Coordinator for the City of Weyburn. "We are also doing contact information tracing for COVID-19 and you can find that form on the city website as well."

The ice at Tom Zandee Sports Arena is scheduled to be removed today which is about a week earlier than normal years. This is due to the pandemic not allowing the local skating and hockey clubs to be able to do their usual wrap-ups that they would require ice time for.

"I do know that public skating has been well attended this year and I also know that skating programs and hockey were still able to function at a certain level," Tenbult expressed. "We were booked up and had our certain limit of people. It seemed to all go well and with the contact tracing everybody was really compliant with everything. For how different of a year it was it went well and we were just happy that public skating was able to go through."

The final days for you to get on the ice in Weyburn will be March 7th, 9th, 11th, and 14th at Crescent Point Place.

To register for the final days of public skating visit the City of Weyburn's Leisure Service online booking website.

You can find their COVID-19 Contact Tracing Form here and you can take a look at the City of Weyburn’s reopening of facilities and Covid-19 safety protocol for the most up-to-date information before you visit Crescent Point Place.
