Mike Eskra, captain of the Weyburn Red Wings, is expected to rejoin the squad as they continue their road trip through the northern Sherwood Division. He was one of the final cuts from Team Canada West’s selection camp in Leduc, Alberta. The team will be playing in the World Junior A Challenge next week in Bonnyville, Alberta.

Eskra was one of 11 players from the SJHL who was invited to the camp. In the end, only three players from the circuit made the team. Cory Thomas and Brandon Lesko of the Flin Flon Bombers, along with Regan Seiferling of the Yorkton Terriers, were announced as making the roster.

Notable cuts, in addition to Eskra, included Adam Dawe of the Notre Dame Hounds, who is considered one of the top rookies in the league this year, and Dakota Boutin of the Melfort Mustangs.

There is no word at this time if Eskra will be available for the Wings when they resume the trip Friday in La Ronge. They take on the Ice Wolves at Mel Hegland Arena in their third game of the four game trip.
