The ball season has kicked off here in Weyburn and Weyburn Minor Ball Association is already working hard on a massive fundraiser.

"We have one big fundraiser for the 2021 ball season.," said volunteer Britney Fisher. "It is a recycling program basically. It's pretty straightforward, we're just collecting cans and bottles and we have three options for the community to help out Weyburn Minor Ball."

Fisher noted that they have come up with three different options for community support.

"We have drop and go in which you can go to any Saskatchewan SARCAN that has a drop and go and it's very simple," she said. "You just click the screen and you say that you are an existing member and you type in WMBA for Weyburn Minor Ball Association and your cans and bottles will be donated to Weyburn Minor Ball Association."

They also have a pick-up option where people can text her at 306-580-3371 or they can message WMBA on Facebook and arrange for cans and bottles to be picked up.

"We are going to be set up at the old E. Bourassa and Sons shop, just off 17th street" Fisher noted.  "We're going to be set up on May 15th all the way to June 19th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We'll have some youth working that, some of the ballplayers helping to collect the cans and bottles."

Fisher noted that they have many options for this ongoing fundraiser in order to bring in as much as they can.

"We have some big goals for Weyburn Minor Ball. We are wanting to raise $15,000 so that is a lot of recycling to collect," laughed Fisher. "We want to get more score clocks for our diamonds as well as some jerseys for our teams and, of course, some equipment upgrades."

Weyburn Minor Ball will be regularly updating their fundraising progress on their Facebook page
