The Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings evening up their best-of-five series with Prairie Storm Wednesday night. The friendly confines of Crescent Point Place helped the team to a 7-5 win. The series is now tied 1-1.

Prairie Storm jumped out into the lead in the first period, when Dawson Brace got the puck past Matt Dutchak with 9:59 on the clock. The power play goal was one of five extra-strength markers scored on the night between the two teams, as special teams shone for both squads.

Hudson Hall would even things up just 89 seconds later. Brogan Schmeltzer and Axel Lund were credited with the assists on the goal.

In the second period, the ice would be tilted in favour of the Wings, as Baron Lawrence scored twice to give the Wings a 3-1 lead. The first goal came with a man-advantage just 2:21 into the frame. Spencer Ordahl and Mitchell McDonald assisted on the goal. The second, also on the power play, came with just under five minutes left in the period. Parker Douglas and Gavin Doud assisted.

The Wings extended the lead to 4-1 in the third period, when Albert Kim scored just over two and a half minutes in. His tally was assisted by Kale Williamson. From there, Prairie Storm rallied back.

Brace scored his second power-play goal of the game just shy of the five-minute mark, and Jaxon Henry made it a 4-3 game moments later.

With the lead narrowed to just one, the Wings pushed to expand the lead once more. Gavin Doud got the ball rolling with a power-play goal with 8:40 remaining in the period. He was assisted on the goal by Parker Douglas. Then, Douglas scored a goal of his own 20 seconds later, with Sam Chittenden getting credited for the helper.

The visitors would score again to close the gap once more. It started with an unassisted shorthanded goal from Luke Schaeffer with 5:11 remaining in the third. Zach Cain then scored for Prairie Storm, making it 6-5 Weyburn.

The insurance goal to push the game out of reach came courtesy Rylan Erb with 2:24 left on the clock. Kyle Perras assisted on the tally.

The series now returns to White City for game three Friday night. Game four will be back in Weyburn Saturday.
