Football players across Weyburn are converging on practices this week, as they prepare for the coming season.

Players in the bantam and peewee programs with Weyburn Minor Football have been practicing this week at Jubilee Park. Meanwhile, members of the Weyburn Comprehensive School Eagles are practicing at the school.

There are enough players registered for minor football this year, that there has been the creation of a new bantam program to play in the Moose Jaw Minor Football League. The Cardinals will be entering their first season of play in the league, and kick off with a game against the Weyburn Falcons on September 3rd. The pee wee Weyburn Eagles open their season on September 1st against the Estevan Charges, while the pee wee Ravens open play on September 10th against the Eagles.

The WCS Eagles will get an early start to their season, as they have a controlled scrimmage against the Estevan Comprehensive Elecs on Friday at Darold Kot Field. They open the regular season September 1st against the Elecs in Estevan.
