Coming into the second round of the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Graham DeLaet had his work cut out for him. He had finished the first round of the tournament 6-over, was tied for 139th overall, and was eight strokes back of the projected cutline.

His second round of the tournament, however, will go down as one of the best rounds of golf seen from a player chasing the cut, as he finished the second round with an 8-under 64, moving up 86 spots on the leaderboard to 53rd overall, and above the projected cutline. While DeLaet is finished his round, though, he will need to wait to see if he will be playing on the weekend, as a number of other golfers were still on the course when he finished for the day.

DeLaet was on fire from the tee, averaging 296.5 yards with his drives, and hit 85.71 percent of the fairways. He also made the green in regulation 88.89 percent of the time, his only blemish coming on the sixth hole, where he had a bogey on the 387-yard par 4.

The Weyburn native finished up the round with nine birdies, starting with one on the first hole of the day. It set the tone for his round, as he also birdied holes 4, 7, 9, 12, 13, 16, 17 and 18. His 64 over the course of the 18 holes is also the best round of the tournament so far.
