The Bantam AA Wings were on the road Wednesday night, taking on the Regina Pat Blues in Odessa. The matchup between the two squads was the second last game of the regular season for the Wings, who were looking to improve their position heading into the postseason. It would be the Pat Blues who came away with the two points, however, as they picked up a 3-2 overtime victory.

The game started out on the right foot for Weyburn, with Van Eger scoring with 9:45 remaining in the period. He was assisted on the goal by Ty Mason.

Regina evened things up before the opening frame was done. Wyatt Homeniuk scored with 3:20 left on the clock, making it a 1-1 game.

The lead for Weyburn was restored before the period was done, though. Cooper Walbaum scored on the power play with 1:47 left to go. He was assisted by Daxin Peterson and Quinn Mantei, making it a 2-1 game for Weyburn.

Neither team was able to score in the second period, with Dylan Ernst stopping all 13 shots he faced in the Weyburn goal. In the third, Ernst was even busier, as he faced 16 shots, turning 15 of them away. The lone one to slip past him came at the 5:49 mark of the frame, scored by Eric Johnston.

The goal was the only one in the third, which meant overtime between the two squads.

In the extra frame, Blake Betson scored for the Pat Blue with just 1:52 left on the clock.

Weyburn is currently sitting in fourth place in the SAAHL South Division, one point back of Estevan, and one point up on Prairie Storm. The Wings close out the road portion of their regular season on Friday when they head to Regina to take on the Aces. Their final home game is March 2nd when the Saskatoon Outlaws are in town.
