Providing tips for producers calving in March.

Regional Livestock Specialist, Bob Klemmer says producers should keep an eye on their diet. He says, "if you normally have grain in your diet that you start getting them ready with  a small amount of grain before they calve. They will be able to be brought up on their grain level a little quicker without having digestive upsets."

The most critical time for calves and cows is in the pre-calving and post-calving season. Klemmer says that's the time in spring and summer when they have to rebreed. Klemmer says it's important that their minerals are really taken care of from six weeks before calving until post-calving.
