Maple Leaf would like to see hog producers in Manitoba and Saskatchewan move to a slightly heavier animal.

Maple Leaf Director of procurement for western Canada, Jason Manness says, "nothing significant, nothing major, but a little bit heavier hog, targetting you know a 96 kg animal"

Manness says under profitable times, like we should see this year, producers make more money while it improves efficiencies in the plant for packers.
