U-S President-Elect Donald Trump has stated his desire to re-negotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement after he takes office, and that has some Canadian politicians and farm groups concerned.

John Masswhol, Director of International Relations with the Canadian Cattlemen's Association, says while the uncertainty of what could happen to the agreement is worrying, all we can do at this point is wait.

Masswhol said, "Mr. Trump is not president yet, he's building his team, just be ready, you're going to hear all kinds of things over the next couple of weeks and months and some things are going to upset some people and let's just keep our power dry until the man is actually President and we start to hear things officially so do be putting too much stock into things that are leaked or are rumors."

Masswhol added he's very confident that the U-S Commerce Department will look at NAFTA and inform Trump on how it benefits all parties, especially the United States.

He adds he also has reason to be confident that a full analysis of NAFTA will be conducted before it's re-opened.

Masswhol said," What's been good for the United States about NAFTA, what can be improved. Where are the areas that there are no provisions also what would be the implications if the United States were to withdrwal from NAFTA. I feel pretty confident that the end result of that will be commerce department will say to President Trump, Mr. President  NAFTA has been very good for the United States very Benificial."

Masswhol says hundreds of thousands of American jobs depend on trade with Canada and Mexico.
